I dunno if anyone has heard of Magnetic Poetry Sets, but if you haven't, I think I posted about them before. Just to recap, they are really awesome magnets with one word each on them. About two hundred come in each set, as well as a book for ideas on how to use them. My friend has a mini-set on his cabinet in his room, and it's cool at parties to see what people make with them. Usually they are vague sexual references, but sometimes some nice stuff comes out of it. I have three now, and all the magnets are spread out on my desk since my brother would feed them to the fish if I put the magnets on the fridge. The kits are really cool, because I have little poetic... orgasms, if you will, to see so many words spread out in front of me. I scan the area and a few jump out at me, so I write a poem with them. I wrote about a zillion and one on the 31st March - 1st April, and so here they are!

A pretty cut so as not to break your friends page )

I have owned a magnetic poetry set for a while now, but due to a lack of metal surfaces in my room, there was no opportunity to use them. Finally I got tired of staring at it, unopened, so I bought one of those plastic desk protectors and spread out my poetry right on top of my desk. Then the cover went over them, so I lost no workspace! Whenever I can, I take off the protector, play with the poetry, then slip it back on to work.

I am a genius (=

I really love using the magnetic poetry because the limited amounts of conjunctions and articles and verbs (there are about six 'but's but only two 'it's! Wtf?) forces me to think creatively. I use magnetic poetry as, of course, inspiration for poetry, but also like a warm-up before a test or homework. Sometimes I slip a few into my pocket and draw one out at random over the course of the school day, just to see what can come of one word. I recommend magnetic poetry to all writers.

Anyway, this is my first piece of any merit.
